Sarcophaga（麻蝇）

Of course, the common household fly is a part of my bug list. This fly, recognized to be a member of the Sarcophaga family by the characteristic white and black stripes on its back is a common pest in our area. This fly was found in Pujiang Wildlife park, buzzing around some Photinia Lindl bushes. Flies have excellent eyesight, and any human movement is like slow motion to them, making them hard to hit or catch. The main harm of flies mainly come from the filth and bacteria they carry, as when they feed they spit and suck out digestive fluids on their food multiple times, it is not recommended to eat fly-landed food. However, fly infested food is not always bad, in Italy a type of cheese is made by letting a type of cheese fly maggot burrow in it, and the flavour is said to be unearthly delicious. However, although scientific reports have shown that the cheese produced in the process is totally sanitary, the flies might have landed in other filthy place before landing on the cheese, so this cheese is still banned by the government from selling due to this sanitary reason.
