I took this photo while I was getting out of the car to have an appointment in the hospital, so I only managed to get one photo. I could not identify the specific species of Chrysopidae this insect is since most Chrysopidae I find are all green and this is the first time I found a yellow one. I couldn’t find a lot of information online about yellow Chrysopidae, so I guess this is pretty rare?
Well, back to the bug itself. Apart from being differently colored, I guess this bug has no other difference from its relatives. Chrysopidae are a type of carnivore insect, and they eat small insects such as aphids. Chrysopidae live only for one year, so like many other insects they die in the winter. Chrysopidae eggs and nymphs are really interensting – they lay stalk-like eggs to prevent other bugs from eating them, and their nymphs carry dead bodies of other insects on their backs as a camouflage.
