One of my biggest finds ever. Though recently photographed, I put this beauty on the top of the Coleoptera page for everyone to see. This titan beetle was discovered on a cold autumn day, where normally giant beetles like this are nowhere to be seen. I found it tucked under some leaves under a willow tree, and at first I thought it was sick or dead because it had its legs all curled up, but after I picked it up it started kicking its legs and tried to puncture my fingers with its giant pincers, so I guess it was just trying to hybernate, but unfortunately got disturbed by me the intruder. I put it back after taking photos, hopefully it will recover and return to hybernation. Hopefully. Anyways, as this bug is rare and easily distinguishable, I knew it was a Dorcus titanus. But there is one problem though, I found that this bug had two names on the internet, Dorcus titanus platymelus and Dorcus titanus sika. Unable to tell which is the correct one, I just removed the third word and I guess that’s how I’ll name this bug on this website for now.
