unidentified mantis egg sac(某种螳螂卵包)

This mantis egg sac (pic 1) was found on a tree which had a part of its bark stripped. The egg sac’s owner in unidentified, since most mantises lay similar-looking egg sacs, however from the holes on top of it I could tell that it had already hatched. Mantis egg sacs, as said in Jean-Henri Fabre’s Souvenirs Entomologiques, are used traditionally by Europeans and Asians as a sort of medicine, and smearing the mantis egg liquid on wounds is said to help the wound recover. However, such methods are not scientifically proven, so I doubt their effectiveness.

For the second photo I posted here, I found this gecko under some loose bark while taking photos of the mantis egg sac. I found it pretty interesting so I posted it here, but since this is an insect website, I guess I won’t describe too much of it.
