Atractomorpha sinensis(短额负蝗)

As one of the most common grasshopper species in my area, in fact, I suspect that it actually IS the most common species of grasshopper in my area, Atractomorpha sinensis is not hard to find. Here I managed to get photos of this bug in two different places east and west of Shanghai, one in my school in the east and one near my home in the west of Shanghai. Actually I could have gotten many more photos, but since it is so common I didn’t bother doing so. The only problem in distinguishing this bug is that it has a really similar relative, Acrida cinerea, which looks almost the same as this grasshopper. The only difference is that Atractomorpha sinensis is relatively smaller in size and has shorter legs than the latter. Also, I have noticed that most Atractomorpha sinensis prefer to fold their legs while resting (as seen in photo 3), while other grasshoppers don’t (they just stick their legs up).
